ADULT
It’s
never too late to study an instrument. It’s awe inspiring
to see mature adults take on something as ambitious as coming
back to or even starting to learn to play. The same fundamentals
and teaching approaches stated earlier apply here, but lessons
tend to be more relaxed. Adults simply don’t have as much
time to practice as when they were in school. Success moves slowly
but surely.
The lesson is very much geared toward what the student wants to
get out of it. However, I monitor weaknesses and try and bring
those up closer to the level of the strengths. That one weakness
will always hold back all those other wonderful strengths, so
we must address it, not ignore or compensate.
